Identify the projector’s capacity

The first step is to figure out how many watts your device takes to operate. You can check the label of your device to find out its capacity.

Alternatively, you can check this information on the internet. It would be best to visit the vendor’s or developer’s website.

Keep in mind that the projector power shown on the label is in watts per hour. It implies that if your display has a 50W rating, it will require 50 watts per hour to run correctly. 

Estimate the watt-hour 

A simple formula can help you calculate the number of watts utilized by your projector: 

(The project’s power capacity) x (the number of hours you run it per day) = The number of watts spent a day.

Considering a 150W projector utilized for two hours every day, we have (150) X (2) = 300 (Watts).

As you can see, the calculation is simple. It provides you with an exact estimate of your projector’s daily power usage. In this case, a 150-watt projector active for two hours will consume 300-watts every day.

Convert watts to kilowatts

Rather than watt-hours (WH), utility providers will bill you in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

If you want an accurate result of how much electricity your projector uses per month, you’ll need to convert watts to kilowatts. Since one kilowatt equals 1000 watts, we’ll have the formula:

(Device consumption in WH) / 1000 = (Device consumption in kWh)

Using the example of a 150W-projector, we can calculate its power consumption in kWh like this: 150 / 1000 = 0.15 (kWh)

Check the bill

You need to understand the utility company’s per kilowatt price to get economic knowledge of your electricity use.

Many firms will list this on your power bill. If you can’t see the rate, contact them or visit their office to verify.

Calculate the monthly power consumption

Finally, you can calculate the electricity consumption of your projector every month. Here is how to do it:

Estimated monthly consumption = (Daily consumption) x (Days in a month) = 0.15 x 30 = 4.5 (kWh).

To expect how much you have to pay, use this formula:

Consumption cost = (Estimated monthly consumption) x (Utility office charge for one kWh rate) = 4.5 x 0.5 = $2.25.

So, you may pay $2.25 per month to run your projector.
